Joint Research Center (JRC)
As the Commission's in-house science service, the JRC's mission is to provide EU policies with independent, evidence-based scientific and technical support throughout the whole policy cycle. Its work has a direct impact on the lives of citizens by contributing with its research outcomes to a healthy and safe environment, secure energy supplies, sustainable mobility and consumer health and safety. The JRC draws on over 50 years of scientific work experience and continually builds its expertise based on its seven scientific institutes, which host specialist laboratories and unique research facilities.
Role in the project
In the framework of the DownToTen project JRC will contribute to WP2 (Definition of key particle properties, emission and measurement conditions) as a result of the long term experience with solid particles both in the lab and on-road. Regarding the WP3 (Evaluation of Sampling Conditions and Measurement Set-ups) JRC has already much experience on PN-PEMS calibration and catalytic strippers, therefore our contribution will be valuable in this field. Furthermore, in WP5 (Testing Campaign according to the above) we have the necessary equipment and the experience to perform a series of tests both in the lab and on-road here in JRC.
